And yes! The Ashleigh & Burwood Fragrance Lamp really does help to cleanse and purify the air and is effective against allergens including bacteria, mould spores and dust mites.

Ashleigh & Burwood's Lamp Fragrance and Premium Fragrance Lamps are also known as: Catalytic Lamps, Effusion Lamps, Diffusion Lamps.

While air fresheners and room sprays can only mask an odour, the catalytic lamps actively purify, cleanse, and perfume the air in a wide area, and the pleasant fragrance lingers for two hours after the lamp is extinguished. Common odours in the home produced by cooking, pets, tobacco and exercising, can be safely and effectively expelled by catalytic lamps.

Written Instructions will come with your lamp:

  • Stand your lamp on a spill resistant surface. Remove the snuffer-cap and the stone/wick assembly. Fill your lamp up to 2/3 full with one of Ashleigh & Burwood's unique Lamp Fragrances.
  • Insert the stone/wick assembly into the lamp. Always keep the lamp upright when filled to prevent spillage of Lamp Fragrance.
  • Cover the stone with the snuffer cap (If the stone is not covered the Lamp Fragrance will evaporate) and allow the wick to soak for 20-30 minutes. Place your lamp on a heat resistant surface before lighting.
  • Remove the snuffer-cap and light the stone. NEVER leave the burning lamp unattended. Ensure you locate the lamp away from any combustible materials.
  • CAUTION: The stone is now hot! It will remain hot (without flame) as it continues to draw fragrance through the wick
  • Use the supplied decorative-lid to cover the stone. The lamp is now working to clean the air and fragrance your home.
  • Allow the lamp to fragrance your home for up to a maximum of 40 minutes before extinguishing.
  • After 40 minutes, stop the fragrance by removing the decorative lid. (CAUTION - may be hot) and cover the stone with the snuffer cap. This will stop the process and prevent the lamp fragrance form evaporating when the lamp is not in use.

Unwanted Smoke:

Is your flame dancing? When a flame flickers too much; it can produce unwanted smoke which can be caused by a wick that's too long or a breeze.

To ensure a clean burn, extinguish your candle using one of our candle snuffers, trim the wick to 3mm using our wick trimmers and finally make sure it isn’t in direct line of any air currents – then simply relight and enjoy. You can find these everyday candle care products online and in store.

Tunnelling & Candle Memory:

To prevent tunnelling and memory rings; the first burn of your candle is the most important! To ensure you get an even and clean burn throughout your candle’s life - burn your candle for 30 minutes for every 1cm in diameter, so for example a large jar is approximately 8cm in diameter, so we would recommend to burn it for at least 4 hours to ensure the first layer of wax melts to the edge of the candle before you extinguish it.

When to Stop Burning:

When there is approximately 1cm of wax remaining at the bottom of your jar candle, we recommend this is where you should discontinue its use as the flame nears the base of the glass it can get very hot – by doing this you will avoid possible heat damage that can be caused to surfaces or the container.

Making a cup of tea shouldn’t be rocket science, but there are a few things you can do to guarantee a perfect cup of tea every time. Read on and discover all the insider knowledge on the different tea types, our tea tips and tricks.

Rooibos &honeybush tisanes  100°C3-5 minutes

Measurements & ratios
The typical ratio is 1 teaspoon per cup for hot tea, or two teaspoons per cup for iced tea. So, a 1 litre teapot will need around 4 teaspoons of tea for a hot brew.
Strength
Like it nice and strong? Instead of brewing for longer, add an extra teaspoon and brew for the recommended time.
To serve
If you’re adding milk to your black tea, brew for the longest recommended time. Remember, save your milk for black teas – most whites, greens and herbals are best served straight up.
Temperature
White, green and oolong teas prefer 80°C/176°F, so just combine 20% cold water with 80% boiling water. Swill a little hot water in your teapot or cup, then discard. This will keep your teawares from cooling your tea too quickly.
Loose leaf vs. tea bags
Both have their perks. We love the ceremony of loose leaf, but will never say no to tea bags when we’re pressed for time. Whichever you go for, make sure you follow the tea’s brewing instructions.
